Adult Cancer Thrivers Guided Canoe Overnight Adventure

Just before the covid outbreak, we were working to expand our Faces of Courage programs to include Adventure Outings. We are excited to announce that we are hosting our first overnight canoe adventure for adult women cancer patients/survivors.
We are offering a unique opportunity to attend a Rustic Outdoor Overnight Adventure canoe trip down the Suwannee River on July 8, 9, and 10. This outing will start Friday, July 8 with a meet-up and overnight stay in Lake City. In the morning we will launch the canoes (2 people per canoe) and start a 22-mile journey down the Suwannee River. Halfway down we will camp overnight at Woods Ferry in screened shelters, and enjoy a campfire and a rustic cooked meal. Our guide is Jeanene Arrington, Owner of Not A Clue Adventures who is knowledgeable in all things outdoors/camping/canoeing.
A nurse will accompany us on this adventure.
The registration for this Outdoor Adventure is limited to 8 participants who complete a questionnaire and are chosen by our judges. All levels of camping/canoeing experience are welcome to apply. Other trips are planned for 2023 and those not chosen for this trip will be considered first for the next Adventure Outing.
Transportation to Lake City, FL is the responsibility of the participants. A map will be provided.
Bedding/sleeping bags will be needed. All camping equipment will be transported to Woods Ferry and will not need to fit in your canoe.
Participants need to be fully vaccinated and provide a vaccination card prior to departure.
Basic swimming skills are needed as is being capable of walking a half-mile to the evening campground. Life jackets (provided) are required while on the river.
Due to the cost of this program, a deposit of $50.00 will be required from all participants. Your deposit will be returned once you complete the trip. Any no-shows will forfeit their deposit.
